2017-18 World Sevens Series

New Zealand seem to be significantly improved this year - they've just about got a good starting team - but, some of the bit part players not yet up to standard. That Koroi is excellent - a heap of speed and a bag of tricks to go with it. Only thing lacking appears to be elite fitness.
Mainly need to work on catching and nous. I've caught most of all their games this weekend, through luck and management. Too many dropped balls and too many wrong options taken - even to a casual observer.
One of the few other games I caught was Samoa playing Canada. The commentators (Ken Laban was the main one, I think) continuously rabbited on about how Samoa needed to win by 10 points to make the play-offs. They made it a key narrative of the match and even flicked up a graphic at one point saying "Samoa needs to win by 10". Which would have been fine if it wasn't total bollocks. Apparently, no-one on the production team realized there was still a game to be played in that pool.
A pet hate of mine - commentary teams that have no idea of either the state of play or mathematics or both!
Happens all to often Sky, so if someone from your organization is reading this - hire a fucking statistician!

I wish we would stop getting that shitting counting ref. No surprise we lose under him. But too many handling mistakes to beat an in form Fiji, not really pressure ones either, just coach killers.
Bones, stop blaming the ref. NZ team displayed school boy errors.
Tedious JAF back again, weird. How about you learn to read? Or go watch those winning boks.
I am watching the winning Blitzbokke. 😂
Lap it up genius, you don't get to see that too much with SA.

Old dog Stannard with no fucks to give
A win is a win. NZ could have easily won but Baker was Baker and Staniway knocked on at the wrong moment.

From what I've seen - Curry, Dickson, Mikkelson, Koroi - more or less world class in terms of sevens.
Clarke and -XX-Nanai - would quickly get there, but they'll be picked off by Xvs or the Warriors.
All the others need an injection of nous or skills to a greater or lesser extent.

Fiji should score 2 tries here
