I watched the Netflix series Fubar. Reminded me of Arnie's genius
Fubar was fun. I think a 2nd series is coming.
It better be

Back to Arnie after yesterdays discussion.
Was T2 his last truly awesome movie ? I have a feeling it might be given the rest of the Terminators were mixed at best, Last Action Hero was a bit of a weird misfire as was End of Days……there was also a fair bit of crap after them too…..
True Lies was after T2 wasn't it?
Yep, I wouldn’t call it one of his best.
True Lies or T2?
True Lies is epic. Great, great film.
Ok, will definitely rewatch. Unlike others that’s one I haven’t seen multiple times.
T2 is arguably his best film ever of course
> I like T2 but prefer T1. But that's just my preference. I've also got a soft spot for Red Heat because I had a dub of it in the 80s so watched it lots. Unsure how it would hold up now.
Both outstanding.
My next favourite would be the Christian Bale one that everyone hated.

True Lies is in the top tier of arnie movies it's fucking great.

It's funny, I recall True Lies wasn't greatly received at the time (I saw it at the cinema and liked it) but there was an article shortly thereafter about how it would be one of those films that's appreciated in future years. Would definitely agree with that.

of the Arnie classics I've seen dozens of times ( you know, ones where you can pretty much recite the movie from start to finish ) True Lies hasn't been on the list for whatever reason. Will try and remedy that this weekend given what has been written here.
Eraser either.
End of Days had its moments.
Maggie was pretty shit on first viewing but I wouldn't mind giving it another chance, I think it took me by surprise a bit at the time.
Then again, forget the ones mentioned. You can't top this, EVER.
Free on Youtube too, what an age we live in.

Hercules in New York.
It’s free for a reason from the clips I’ve seen.

The Electric State. Thought this would be great at the start but then it really goes to poo and actually didn't end up watching the end. Seems that's the general consensus. Perfect review here from Imdb:
The Electric State" had all the ingredients for a great sci-fi adventure-an intriguing premise, a talented cast, and a massive $300+ million budget. Yet, despite these advantages, the film falls flat, failing to deliver anything beyond its initial setup.
The movie starts strong, presenting a mysterious and engaging world that grabs attention. However, as the plot unfolds, it becomes increasingly childish and loses its depth, turning what could have been a thought-provoking sci-fi journey into something simplistic and uninspired. The film seems unsure of its target audience, oscillating between serious themes and a tone that feels more suited for a younger crowd.
With a cast of this caliber, the performances should have been a highlight, but instead, they feel wasted on a script that doesn't give them much to work with.
Especially Millie Bobby Brown feels underwhelming. Her acting lacks the emotional weight needed to carry the story, making it difficult to connect with her character.
Visually, The Electric State is impressive, as expected from a film with such a massive budget. The CGI and world-building are well-crafted, but stunning visuals alone can't compensate for a lackluster narrative. Given the talent and resources behind the project, the final result is frustratingly mediocre.
Ultimately, The Electric State is a missed opportunity. It starts with promise but quickly loses its way, relying on spectacle rather than substance. For a film of this scale, it should have offered much more than a pretty but hollow experience.

Lee (2024). Biopic of American-British war photographer, Lee Miller.
Outstanding film - really enjoyed it. Winslet in a role she seemed born for and it was great to watch a film without any stupid historical inaccuracies to meet diversity targets. Good tit watch if you're into that sort of thing.

Watching Commando....
First scene - doesn't make a lick of sense
Not sure it matters... I know the rest is going to be awesome
Second scene - doesn't make a lick of sense...
I'd forgotten it was Alyssa Milano was the daughter. It's rather uncomfortable watching this, knowing how hot she grows up to be. Kinda like watching Portman in Leon.
Everything else thus far... awesome...
WWE-Royal-Rumble style "buried by 8 security guards - then erupt" - chef's kiss
...
"All that matters to me now is Jenny"...
"We'll take Cook's car... he won't be needing it."Who was firing at them when they were taking off in the boat-plane?
After that... just ridiculous and fun. Fuck it, why not.
Such good fun. Made nowadays, it would be ripped to pieces. But as a classic - stands tall.

I can't think of a movie with an easier plot to follow.

Overall plot - yeah definitely - but just watch the first scene in isolation. Not a lick of sense.
Also - just be patient... I'm drunk, watching it for the 50th time, will be updating that post as I go...
