4.5 Wicks of 5 Blondies
Sweet - I downloaded that last night, now I can raise my expectations even further...

@MN5 It was fine, Butler polishing a turd here. I went in with low expectations and they were met.
Felt like a 90s movie, was short too.
I have to agree, after a really heavy week at work (ending with 3 consecutive days of very heavy workshops going 9+ hours) and a few well deserved beverages after, this was just the kind of movie that hit the spot, light, moderately entertaining, no thinking required, some action, nothing to heavy, etc.
Butler did as much as he could to elevate the movie and there were a few hot chicks to keep a bit of interest as well.

Fast X: I really don't know if this was a good or bad movie, it's probably both, but it's also the most movie I'll see this year.
Embrace the stupidity and it's a fun ride. Don't embrace it and it will feel very long.
I was reminded to post that I've seen it by the Butler film discussion and now I hope he turns up in one of the rumoured to be now two more parts.
Momoa is great as the villain, essentially doing a Heath Ledger Joker style performance but with tongue firmly in cheek. Contrast that with Vin Diesel who thinks he's in a modern Citizen Kane.
I hope everyone comes back Endgame style for the final film.

I’ve never seen a single one of those movies, ever.

Sisu
Yep - that was fun.
Finnish Eastwood fighting Nazis as imagined by Tarantino/Rodriguez on a coke-binge.
Can't go fucking wrong.
4.5 flying body-parts out of 5 mining-picks to the skull. Or knives through the skull? Or unnecessary gratuitous shots of the insides of a human being?
Sisu. -
@Kruse @MiketheSnow ha I watched this last night too.
Just a movie about a dude fucking up some nazis for trying to steal his gold.
4 so much fucking Bullshit out of 5 so much fucking awesome

Luther: Fallen Sun.
Luther was a 9/10 TV series and Idris Elba one of my favourite actors, but this was really disappointing. The basic plot was OK but somewhere between that and the script it went badly awry and the writing was a bit shit. Some of the scenes were terrifyingly good, but a lot were incredibly predictable and formulaic. The acting was real hammy in places. Tit watch -6.
6 sadistic serial killers out of 10 James Bond Villains.
Got around to watching this last night. Became very OTT very quickly.
How someone could take Elba and Serkis and make such a disappointing movie is beyond me.
Serkis was brilliant as usual and showed that the Bond producers have missed out on a great villian (wig aside).
I wouldn't say don't watch it. It is as OK as much of the other stuff around, just disappointing as it could have been better.
As a seperate point, shows set in London seem to be really struggling with finding the locations to suit the narrative these days. Case in point, trying to recreate a seedy corner of Soho when those really don't exist anymore. Editing did a good job of stitching together about 4 locations to create one short scene. Writers still stuck in the late 80s while Soho has become very gentrified.

Watched this and it was a delightfully entertaining romp. A couple of eye roll moments, but definintely worth the watch.

Did you find a streamer in Oz with it or did, ahem, a friend lend it to you?
-
The latter.

Poo's. I'm too lazy to get things off my friends these days, I guess I'll wait for the Oz cinema release.

Looks gloriously Finnish. Realistic? A hundred years ago in Lapland those fishermen and hunters were damn tough.

Not being able to watch the movie until end of July but hearing about the premise I'm impressed that the Fins have managed to make a WW2 movie involving themselves where the Nazi's are still the bad guys.
The Sami people are really interesting, I've met a few at indigenous conferences, it's always good for me not to be the whitest there.
