We're allowed to speculate on things we might like to see, we talk about rugby rules all the time...
So what do you think are the acceptable wind limits? Variation in direction and speed?

this thread had kind of wrapped up nicely with the win and now you've brought back up something you didn't like from a few days ago?

i take it im not allowed to say i also miss sail changes and the potential drama associated, dragging a spinnaker for too long and your lead is gone, can't say that because theyre not part of this rule? how about if i dared to say ive seen a lot of chat about wider courses and that sounded interesting too?

Spinnaker in the water was replaced by belly in the water. That was pretty damn exciting

I would agree with most of that.
AC is F1 of yachting though and development of the boats is a part of it. Things change with technology. I like these too:
For me having sailed - Optis, Ps, Starlings, Lasers, 2 types of Hobies and then keelers (mostly 1020s), watch the type that you like. The spectacles that you seem to prefer are still available.

I prefer "Polish Chick".
I also don't see every reply the instant it is posted, nor have the time to reply.

Oh. I also miss rucking. That most of all, but I have some VHS tapes of it to reminisce.
so i take it you go and have a go whenever anyone on here mentioned bring back rucking? im sure i saw it brought up not long ago
the whole, im a sailor and so my understand and knowledge outweighs what you might find interesting because you'd just a fan, is the elitist BS people complain about
fuck that, i've watch every AC and a fair chunk of LV/PC races since 95 so i think im allowed to have an opinion
we dont stop people that have never played rugby from watching and having opinions
-
@snowy i never tried to change the rules, never even said they should, just mentioned that the races might be interesting if the rules were different
and as has been mentioned...the rules for the change every time round
did you write the rules? is that why you've taken this so personally?

Sounds like Ashby would still be ok but if I’m honest I wouldn’t begrudge him if he could be part of an Aussie team

Good luck ETNZ.
How come @Luigi managed a stealth drive by posting and no-one commented?

Sounds like a no brainer if Ineos is locked into having the AC regatta here in the event that they win

It sounds good in some ways - certainly be a big event.
If we did lose though, they are the defender, and get to set all of the class rules, boat design, competition rules, wind limits (can be contentious to some), time limits (was an issue in SFO - cost us the cup), etc. Those are all a big advantage that we give away, which is why it has been so hard to take it away in the past. We would also have to the challenger of record at home next time to mitigate some of that.
We might well win anyway, but we are gambling quite a bit. Sounds like a chance for the Brits to finally get their hands on it again and get the monkey of their back. Can't blame them for that.
