AFL 2017

Hawks supporters? Accepting? hahaha
You just better hope it's a rebuild, and not a Brisbane Lions.
Richmond would just like a win in September wouldn't they? Baby steps mate...
Bit of chat about the Tigers now, at 3-0. Still, I'll wait until they beat someone good. Carlton, the Pies, and the Eagles in Melbourne isn't the toughest run of fixtures. They do appear to have learned some lessons from last year though.
-
Im still expecting the Tigers to finish somewhere in the middle ,
There is a big group of teams with not much between them ,
Tigers seem to be playing on a lot of adrenaline right now , winning games through sheer will ,hard gut running for 4 quarters ,
not sure how long they can keep that going , Im keeping a lid on it for now
-
Four from four with Melbourne next week...

Forgetting ladder positions and just looking at the teams on paper , this game is closer to 50 50 than many will think ,
Melbourne are a well balanced side these days , are guilty of lapses, but always lift against us ,
have beaten us 3 or 4 years in a row
-
Hawthorn get smacked again. And very badly. It's gone very wrong, and at least Sydney have a bunch of players to come back. They had a crack today and got smoked, that's a very bad sign.
4 rounds in and you can make some judgements now. Adelaide and GWS the early form sides. Richmond a gimme draw but look good enough to play finals. Bulldogs playing well for a young team with a premiership hangover. Geelong for the top 4.
Lions still to get the spoon
-
As a neutral it will be interesting to see what the hawks do ,
If they admit their success window is now shut , they may trade off their current experienced players for picks or kids to teams looking for top ups while they still have some value .
Start again , Rebuild from the bottom up with draft picks
-
You can't rely on the Eagles to do anything except come to Melbourne and roll over. They got fucked by a previously inept Hawks outfit, and all our jokes about them being winless are now gone. Time to shift the focus to Sydney, who were spanked by their neighbours on Saturday.
I was genuinely pissed off at the end of the Lions v Bulldogs game. We lead for nearly the whole game, at one point by almost 40, and get run down. Okay, that was always inevitable, some of those kids just don't have AFL-standard tanks in them yet, and the 'dogs are one of the fittest around. But for them to get a bunch of late ones to blow the score out to nearly 5 goals was tough to take. We didn't deserve that scoreline. It was easier to take when we just sucked i think.
Richmond v Melbourne tonight should be interesting. The Demons are underachieving given expectations, and the Tigers are unbeaten, but haven't played anyone good. And tomorrow it would be great if it was a draw.
-
Five from five. The big test is next week against Adelaide. Expecting to lose but hopefully not by much.
-
We have had a cushy draw so far ,
the next month have Adelaide ( away) Bulldogs(away) Freo , GWS( away) in that order ,
but 6-3 after 9 rounds would still be better than most predicted and still placed ok to make finals
-
On richmonds wins so far ,
Interesting that Geelong have beaten Freo, North , Demons . Hawks , saints ,
I wouldnt imagine those sides are challenging for a premiership either ,but nothing gets mentioned of that ,
For me the best sides right now are Adelaide and GWS ( the talent on their list is scary good ) with the dogs sitting there capable of turning it on and beating anyone on their day as we already know
-
All this talk of Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide ... all signs pointing squarely at bossing the home and away, Minor Premiers with rounds to spare... aaaand bombing out in the Prelim.
Shaddup shaddup shaddup!
Bubble will burst
Top 2 is a near certainty for me ,
Anything can happen come finals time , and the gf is played in Melbourne,
If I was a betting man , I think you will be there in the gf .
-
Collingwood down again, Buckley dead man walking. Haves and have nots for the year starting to separate
-
Interesting situation ,
Mick Malthouse was the successful Collingwood coach at the time , Bucks was his assistant ,
North Melb offered Bucks the head coaching job which he was interested ,
Eddie couldnt stand the idea of their favourite son leaving and guaranteed him the top job in a couple of years time as a succession plan,
Mick went on to make 2 consecutive grand finals and then had to make way for Buckley , because of eddies deal with him , everybody was scratching their heads , why get rid of a coach that is killing it ,
its all gone down hill at Collingwood since , and Mick now hates eddie and doesnt talk to him ,
Eddie is stubborn and will never admit he fucked up ,
but is going to have to make a tough decision on his golden boy sooner or later
-
And the rest of the competition sat back and laughed
-
Bartlett had John Ralph on today on Sen ( the major sports radio station in melb)
Ralphy suggested it's time to put the pressure on McGuire. Said he's been there nearly 20 years. It's his coach, the list his coach wanted and he's ruined the club as a result.
It's gonna get ugly soon. McGuire cant handle criticism.
-
@kiwiinmelb Since I'm not a fan of Collingwood supporters generally and dislike McGuire specifically, I'd be thrilled if he has sent the club into a long term decline.
-
An impassioned statement by Eddie this morning on the radio. A call to arms. Hilarious. Long may this live on.
I think it boils down to one thing - they're simply not that good. They don't have good depth. Their cohesion between midfield and forward line is nonexistent. They have a few good young players, but they aren't where they need to be to win games. Competitive but other than Pendlebury they have very little class in their squad.
