Slim pickings for left wing this year.
Julian Savea. Up and down but led a lot of the stats for wingers on metres gained, tacklers beaten and clean breaks through TRC. Single handedly took the Wallabies apart in the 2nd 40 at Eden Park, which unfortunately papered over some of the cracks before Chicago by giving us a 27 point win in what was actually a pretty close match.

I like Savea for this.
Fantastic winger, big and physical and fast
Better than just about everyone else
Can destroy people defensively on occasion
Not as good as he could be, so suffers from comparison with earlier versions of Savea.
Mentally lazy at times
Can get a bit lost defensively (George North, he's looking at you as you run past him)
Simon Zebo. Broke Munster's club try scoring record in March. Was a key part of WR try of the year scored by Jamie Heaslip. Also plays full-back for his club and Ireland. His handling, chasing, kicking and scoring have all improved in the last 12 months.

Shouldn't we rename this one leftard of the year 2016 and the guy on the opposite flank rwnjs of the year 2016?

@dogmeat excellent suggestion

He's also equally adept at centre.

Tradition dictates it's always been the Karl Marx.
I've never been able to settle on a right winger though.
I tend to think it's more prestigious as a tribute to a person rather than a concept. Bit like naming after a sponsor. Maybe they get a specially engraved "lefttard chocolate fush" for 2016 only.

@antipodean Never been a fan of Earls but that lot is just plain out of order. Very cruel.
