Stadium of Canterbury

@taniwharugby Still just Artist's Impressions. We are a long way away from a design, what with the roof and all.
This is only the beginning of the AMI Jade Paul Kelly Newton Dodge Horncastle Felchers Clusterfuck Downtown Stadium saga.

Why isn't the whole site a nice grassy park for the next 15 years until it's built? It's right in town!
Why not do it in Addington where there's already parking and motorway access and just a KM from town?
Or drill deep at Lancaster Park, a place of Mana and Tapu?
-
@taniwharugby Yes Mate Just another proposal nothing settled on yet that will be more time wasted 35,000 seater roof done I reckon

I can't back any of this up but just a story I heard when down there over the weekend.
A guy that has the demo contract (I think) who is in the racing industry (hence how I was told) said the council already have the land and it is near where Lancaster Park already is and in a zone with no parking. It seems that the place selected is in a hopeless Zone for access etc.
I was told the area but it didn';t stick with me.
I hope this isn't a wasted opportunity by the council as if done right the stadium can be a centre hub for a shopping precinct and restaurants etc. It needs parking for that to happen though

Everyone has known where it’s going to be built for some time, in my opinion it’s a great place (close to the inner city bars, shopping etc)
Of course parking will be at a premium if you are building it in the central city. Who the fuck cares.

Isn't it on similar land to Lancaster Park?
I didn't actually pick up on that this place was central city as I don't recognise the names of the areas. If it is central city then that makes sense.

It's a bit closer to the central city than lancaster, not right in the middle but an easy 5 minute walk.

Fuck all parking around Suncorp Stadium and that packs out ~52K. It's about five minutes walk from the Paddo tavern and less than that from Caxton Street (bars and restaurants).

it's a short walk from a lot of places to pre-game. And with the free transport, getting there and back is a piece of piss.
Good stadium, except for the surface, and the beer choice
-
@mariner4life Is there any stadium that sells good beer?

We get the full range of monteiths in chch (I think there’s 7 or 8 options).
Not top quality but pretty good (the American pale ale is 5.7%).
