My "Aussie Rugby" story from last weekend: refereed a Third Grade game in the morning on an oval with a turf cricket square in the middle. Absolute muck there, and dead grass everywhere else.
Played most of 2 Grades in the afternoon, on a track that was slightly better (no turf square, green grass mostly). Started at First Grade hooker which I don't think I've done before. 2 throws not straight and back spams from launching the ball over their only jumper to 4, 5, and occasionally 6. Must be roughly 80% hit rate.
Needed a Powerade urgently just after halftime as the cramps started to hit my calves. Lesson learned: I'm too old
Tomorrow we just got official word that we're good to go, despite a bit of moisture underfoot. Only light showers between now and kick off so reckon we'll have a bit of fun

@NTA Mate always laughed about 30 years back in the mighty Nua, the main rugby ground had a cricket pitch in middle. and councils answer to it ripping up, put a fine gravel in it, not too many players were keen to go down in middle of park!!
And love the fact you reffing AND playing, I doff my cap sire!

You eligible for NZ?
Zero chance.
One not straight out of about 10 today, won all the rest. I'm getting better

@NTA well he did say don't put your trust in government. He might have had inside info on that sage advice.
Wouldn't trust him with the collection tray at church.,..

Maybe I have missed it, but I haven't seen Charlie Gamble show up with the Wallabies or their A team. Is he injured? I thought he would have least been in the A squad.

@Crazy-Horse not eligible until next year I believe.

I would ask the same thing about Wales, but with a success rate as high as that he's clearly not got any Welsh heritage whatsoever

@NTA no Skelton?
Arnold fills the quota I guess?
Or (reads 140kg)...they have to stick to the catering budget this year?

Not sure if previously posted. https://www.theroar.com.au/2022/07/29/a-one-stop-solution-to-improve-the-structure-of-rugby-in-the-southern-hemisphere/

I, actually, don't hate that at all. That is the best solution i have heard yet to be honest.

From an ABs perspective, you'll have ABs with that team from November through April, with breaks in between, but without having other shit to do for domestic teams/Super rugby, and we can wear the fluffybunnies out before SRP comes around, rather than getting a bunch of tired-ass players.
I don't love it but is is the best idea I've heard.

the more i think about it, the less i can find wrong with that structure.
