50 Years of Star Trek - RIP
-
The original ethos of Star Trek has been watered down so much from all that canon it's just generic sci-fi at this point.
It used to be have a pretty positive message; pro science, team work, meritoracy, racism was seen as an anachronism (same with nationalism) and it was a colour blind society. Problems were as often solved by diplomacy or intelligence as with violence or space battles.
Now it's all corrupt Starfleet, stupid explosions, stories that don't make sense and as far from a utopia as possible. It's been dumbed down to Star Wars level.
Strange New Worlds has a flavour of the original, so I can still watch that. The rest I've noped out of.

@Kirwan Thanks - you make a very compelling argument. I have given up on Discovery and all the other recent iterations but I found Michelle Yeoh the best thing in the first seasons of Discovery (despite the points you raise) and was rather hoping to see her reprise the leather cat suit....

I like Michelle Yeoh as well. I think you are describing an actor polishing a turd.
Could I interest you in a Nurse Chappel?

I dont have Paramount+ so havent been keeping up with Discovery, Watched the first 3 episodes of season 5 on the plane back from NZ though, good old fashioned treasure hunt across the galaxy which is fun
