Not getting into a spat on this, but you said "You are allowed to arrange a private session - but still, when you're a rich fuck in the public eye that gets driven around most of the time anyway, just pay the fine and take the fucking points."
That's hardly arguing she shouldn't be treated differently from anyone else.
I already covered this with my food bank comment.

@MiketheSnow yeah to be clear, I've no issue at all with the following (I live in South London and they have the same use here), it's the pointless denial of the following that is dumb.
Think they were waiting for all the info/evidence
Getting murkier. Plod really don't help themselves do they?

You are not drawing a parallel that makes any sense.

Just because you can do something and have every right to, doesn't mean it's a good idea and you shouldn't cop flack for it.
-
@Bones Seriously, this isn't even close to any sort of a parallel.
This has nothing to do with adults in kids competitions, the rich stealing food from the poor. Not even close.
Everybody who gets caught has the option to take the course or the points. Nobody misses out, there's not taking spots from anybody, every single person has the option. If 42,000 elect the course, 42,000 get the course If Braverman elects to take the course and that means 42,001 need to the take the course, then 42,001 will take the course.
To not be offered the option of the course, would be the opposite of preferential treatment.
You simply don't have a point.

Alun Michael is an idiot
They were absolutely chasing them - as they had every right to - and there’s no way that wasn’t communicated back to control
What needs to be determined is did the police cause the boys to crash & burn
By the sounds of it, the answer is no

I doubt if there's a more stupid public service overall than the Police.

But what's the criteria for deciding on who should and shouldn't "cop flack for it" ?

I would almost say that the failure to transform British science into industry in the postwar period was an all time historical tragedy.
British science and engineering were exploding with new results. Antibiotics, Jet Engines, Electron Microscopes, DNA, nuclear power, applied mathematics to materials science, electronics, computers, you name it. They needed a DARPA and a West German style industrial re-investment programme.

Recommend Corelli Barnett's The Lost Victory (if you haven't already read it). Governments, Unions & much of industry were more concerned with keeping smoke-stack industries & coal mines running rather than encourage investment in new industries and products.
Some truly insane stuff went on like still designing new classes of steam engines into the 1960's. Add in 95% tax rates on profits from investment (yes, really) and you had a recipe for disaster.

This is fascinating. BoJo happy to hand over all his notes and WhatsApp messages but No 10 isn't.
May just be BoJo making things difficult for Sunak but, if what Kate Bingham has said about the obstruction her Vaccine Task Force faced from members of the Cabinet at the time, there might be a lot of stuff current cabinet minister's would want to hide.

A couple of news items to celebrate the diversity of the UK PC environment...
One was the result of a complaint by one man. The other had nearly 9,000 complaints.
-
@Catogrande that's how we roll in Beckenham.
-
@Catogrande I've just read it. Why would you get me so angry.
There's fucking zero to do with skin colour or race there. Saying how great somewhere is, then following up with go back there doesn't strike me as racist. New Zealand is pretty great too.

Absolute fucking disgrace

The danger is this sort of double-standards stuff feeds the Right-wing conspiracy nutters.
