@MN5 so what'd you think of #1?
I’m astonished that a pretty ordinary song from the 70s has become so popular all of a sudden.
-
@taniwharugby said in Grumpy Old Man:
@MN5 well TBF I assume #2 would take it, cos it got really popular again...
lots of the top 20 way out of where I had themYeah I accept that young munters will vote their shit bands and I’m going full GOM.
But how the fuck a song that came out four years before I was born took number one just baffles me.
It’s not a terrible song but it’s pretty ordinary….and simple.
-
@taniwharugby said in Grumpy Old Man:
@MN5 could argue it isnt really even a rock song, more a ballad, just the band, is a rock band.
Oh well, wheres my beer
I’m pleased Blindspott didn’t get there.
-
@taniwharugby said in Grumpy Old Man:
@MN5 I'd have Nil by mouth over simple man myself.
Metallica had FIFTY NINE songs in the top 2000 ! Fuck that’s a lot.
Of other groups I LOVE…..not just like……
AC/DC 37.
Faith no More 15.
Stone Temple Pilots 13.
Led Zep 26.
Sabbath 17.
Chillis 28 ( mainly more recent shit songs ).
Deep Purple six ( fucks sake how embarrassing ).
Iron Maiden 21.
The Doors nine.
Soundgarden 13 ( Chris Cornell obviously featured elsewhere too ).
Gunners 26. -
@chimoaus said in Grumpy Old Man:
@MN5 Looks like Tool have 28? that is a good effort, and a band that has arguably kept up their quality over the years.
I respect Tool and certainly realise their talent but I don’t really like them as much as others do.
Weird, cos they have all the ingredients of a band I’d love…..

I love it. Great tune.
Not many songs you hear and the first time think, that is a totally awesome song. And still think the same after the 50+ listen many moons later.

This thread must the most therapeutic on the Fern....
I'm fucking tearing out what remains of my hair dealing with my local council planning department. If there was a prize for stupidity, incompetence and outright ineptitude, these guys would ring the bell and kick the can at the same time.
Want to install 14 ground-mounted Solar Panels against the hedge in my field and need panning permission as it's more than 9 panels - should be simples right? But the clowns can't tell me whether household planning is needed, whether it's outside machinery and plant, agricultural land use change or a solar farm. Application fees of £260 to £920 have been quoted - for 5 solar panels
Yep the installation of 5 additional solar panels has caused chaos and confusion and gone up to the Head of Planning for a decision. Truly moronic.

Or maybe you're the first they've seen on it and the rules are written so badly they can't figure it out. Having dealt with those sort of laws I wouldn't be surprised!
-
@Victor-Meldrew Can you do one array of 9 and another of 5 and then join them later? Sounds bloody stupid to me.

I'd have to get planning permission for the additional 5 as it takes the total size over the limit.

More fucking planning insanity. I've been advised to write to the Head of Planning myself to find out what type of planning is needed as "the Planning Department has to be independent".
Not asking for a planning decision, you fuckwits, but what type of application you fluffybunnies want me to submit.

I got snapped by Auckland Transport driving in a bus lane.
Ironically I am usually very dutiful about not transgressing priority lanes but I wasn't even aware that I was in one
However I did challenge the fine on their website on the basis that you can clearly see from the photos that they provided that I was unable to merge into the other lane so what was I supposed to do stop at the entrance to the bus lane and completely block all traffic but more importantly legally you have 50 metres to exit a priority lane and given that the supporting photos they have supplied are taken less than one second apart I would have had to be travelling at 180kph to exceed 50 metres in that time.
I heard nothing for two months. Then I got a phone call from Baycorp who Council has passed the infringement to. I explained I had appealed. Baycorp got me to put it in writing as they had no record.
I've come back from holiday to a letter from Akl Transport saying I didn't appeal and I have driven in a bus lane.
I am considering going to court. Not so much for the fine but just the arrogance.

This could probably go in the Inflation thread but that place has too many words I don't understand so I am rescuing this thread from page two.
Anyway, I now have to spend at least $36 every two to three weeks just so my cats can go for a shit!
-
@Crazy-Horse ok after Mr Ed I can deal with a talking horse. But a horse with pet cats is a step too far.
