Canterbury 2022

This seemed to be a job nobody wanted.
You can see why. There's been three seasons of bad results (not just two) and the fans will judge the 2022 side by the standards of 4+ years ago.
So a coach will get no credit for a big turnaround and even a moderate improvement isn't good enough.Now that Ta$man is the premier side in the Crusaders region recruitment and holding quality players is harder. Canterbury should still be near the top, but structurally things are a lot more difficult
-
@Duluth Canterbury went from a team that could put 80 points on southland to then a side that would only beat the stags by the skin of their teeth, I hope the Canterbury of greater days can return, strip prinsep of the Captaincy and let Luke Romano lead by example

@FakatavaFuture
2019 - 6 wins 5 losses
2020 - 4 wins 6 losses
2021 - 5 wins 5 lossesIn 3 seasons they have not been able to out perform a coin toss (15 wins 16 losses)
The fact that there are teams like Southland that are essentially amateur makes it even worse

Yeah there were some problems within the board as well.
Those seems to be getting better.
It will take a couple of years to get back on track
Ta$man has had a major impact on the landscape as you say it has hurt the recruitment process for Canterbury. -
@FakatavaFuture Stuff that haha! They might return but I certainly don't miss seeing them win the comp year after year.

I remember Auckland winning every year through the 1980's by 20 points at least every game.Starting after the great Shield game when Auckland took it back from Grizz's team.
That team use to thump Canterbury by 30 points everytime.
Auckland were miles ahead of everyone in fitness and professionalism.
It took Canterbury 5 or 6 years to catch up. -
@African-Monkey thought Gardiner was a loose forward that can cover lock? he's certainly not a winger😭

@African-Monkey said in Canterbury 2022:
@Chris haha true. So how are you guys gonna fit all your locks in now Gallagher coming along and Gardiner as well?
Gardiner is a LF really who covers lock.Dunshea out for the season.
So I guess Romano,Gallagher and Darry rotating around the 23.LF looks like a squeeze to. Christie,Harmon,Kellow,Gardiner,Prinseep and Grace.
Plus there are a couple of young LF's in Torian Barnes and George Metheven who deserve a crack.It is really the backs we are shit with donkey's like Mcleod,both Punivai Brothers nothing behind Burke and HB is weak behind Drummond.

It also highlights how great of a coach Razor was for Canterbury.

They were winning championships immediately before Roberston and immediately after Robertson. In fact, the only Championship they didn't win between 2008 & 2017 was one of the years Roberston was coach
