Jeffrey Epstein

and Bill Gates, that Epstein is so well-connected with such a mysterious past to so many rich and famous who you'd think would have security vetting anyone getting close to them ..
I suspect some of the ones around Epstein weren't paedophiles, just creepy egomaniacs. Like Joi Ito and Steven Pinker. If only because who would have a list of that many underage girls? He must have really worked the room alright..

Settle down. Posting sauceless gossip is a Fern tradition, but defamatory sauceless gossip probably needs to go in your own social media.

@jc not sure what you are talking about. Bill Gates admitted the links, Ito apologized (or at least admitted it was a bad decision), Pinker said in written interviews the same. I'm not alleging they did anything wrong apart from that but at least two of them, no, I think all of them, continued to meet and or support him after he was charged. You can look it up yourself.
-
@nostrildamus Yeah, nah. Someone mentions a guy who was charged with trafficking young girls and a guy convicted yesterday for doing the same and you finished the thought with “and Bill Gates”. You even tied it into the same sentence by omitting the capital letter. Don’t be disingenuous.
-
@jc oh I see what you mean...ok then my apologies I wasn't trying to slander Bill Gates I was linking him into so many of the people I admire who were courted and fell under the charm of Epstein. Not trying to link them to others. All three people I mentioned have done some great things IMO. I did not intend for anyone to infer I was slandering them. My point then and still is: his influence was huge. And yet how he actually got to be so well connected (and so apparently wealthy) is still rather nebulous. He must have had incredible personal charm and sway.
As to what the others did or did not do, no comment. As I thought I said, there were many people he was connected to that probably did not know or were associated with his activities. But once he was charged they should have stayed well clear, by then it was public knowledge. -
@nostrildamus Fair enough. I’m not trying to white knight anyone, just don’t like the thought of Kirwan and Duluth getting lawyers’ letters.

I'm a bit confused with the case at the moment. The prosecution seems to want to prove the defence case while setting up the narrative that he liked them young.
The witness yesterday said she was 17 and that any other girl she saw was her own age. That's over the age of consent and she even added that she made her own decisions. That's the defence case in a nutshell.Even the Prince Andrew allegations are about a woman of age and even if Epstein and Maxwell coerced her into going with him, his defence is easy. It's the lying part that is his problem as he keeps digging the hole.

What state is this being tried in? 17 isn't the age of consent in a lot of US states.

It's more to do with where the event took place though. The ones I read from yesterday were in London.
She's being tried for trafficking though and the Federal Laws on that mention 18. Not sure how that works when the act being tried for is outside of the US

@kid-chocolate is that on topic?
If so you have me completely lost. -
One of the charges she was convicted of has a maximum sentence of 40 years.
