Probably most cases won't be ICU though right? That would be those requiring ventilators?
Those requiring just oxygen and some monitoring etc will be HDU?I'm just talking a bit of shit, not from any area of expertise.
Ventilators are HDU as well rather than ICU only although currently anyone on a ventilator is ICU because we have the capacity for that. Agree that HDU is probably at least as relevant as ICU in this.

what the hell is the point of this graphic?
Labour identity politics. They are currently in the process of splitting everything up by your ehtnic group (going to be a DHB only for Maori, 3 Waters will be in partnership with Maori, etc etc)
This graph will allow them to point at Maori vaccination rates and say the current system is racist, so we need to wait until all groups are 90/95% vaccinated to protect them. And be kind.
I can't decide if it's identity politics, or just scrambling for another way to cut the numbers so as to avoid opening up, getting cases, and exposing the flaws in the strategy and performance over the last 18mths
-
It's been there right from the start, or at lease very early.
Back before the delta breach, Pasifika over 65 years old living in Counties Manukau DHB for example - were prioritised in the vaccination rollout. Part of the 'Group 2' I think.
Can't remember if there were any other ethnic reasons for it.
Not of much use now, though, except to wonder at the Asians and tut-tut at the Maori.

Man, Whangarei was insanely busy today, was Christmas like busy....

These boundaries are fucking stupid. I've had two ten tonne diggers sitting on my property doing nothing for over a week. I can see where the drivers live from my place but they aren't allowed to come and work. Father and son team who will be in contact with no one, both double jabbed.
A team of builders who can't do a thing because the piles aren't in place.
Materials to build all sorted. Just the fucking stupid boundary that is making it all go wrong. Idiotic government. They are supposed to be essential workers but can't come and and work on an 11 hectare property within their own bubble? All they see is some alpacas, ducks, geese, and chooks but they aren't allowed over over some imaginary line that the powers that be think covid won't cross. It's just so stupid it defies belief.
The arbitrary nature of things right now is doing people's heads in

@canefan over here you can dance at a restaurant but not at a nightclub, go figure
I realise it is a tough gig trying to negotiate the way through covid. But someone has to take a step back and look at the decisions being made. That is befuddling
-
@canefan I know Auckland have been in lockdown for ages, but up until today, for the past 11 days, Northland was at a stricter level than Auckland, with zero cases...so you can see why people around NZ are getting fed up, and I cant see them relaxing rules much more for some time.

What about this one then.
We in Sydney still can't leave Greater Sydney because lots of regional towns have beem slow to get vaxxed. Think Byron Bay etc. Lots still at 40-50% double jab.
But while we can't visit those little hippie enclaves, they are free to move around the remainder of NSW as freely as they want. They can drive their unvaccinated selves thousands of kms to other smelly little hippy towns as often as they like. They even have less restrictions than us while they do that.
Good times.

At least 20 people in the town?

First doses have dropped down to barely 10,000 a day after Super Saturday. It's going to take another 20 days to even hit 90% first doses, and that relies on keeping that rate. They were 18-19K per day last week. Hard to know whether Super Saturday made doses occur sooner or whether it is has induced a sense of complacency as we "reached the target".
I do think the government has missed a trick by leaving their plan announcement until Friday. It ideally should have been released well before now but if they at least had it ready to go on Saturday/Sunday or even Monday after Super Saturday, then they could have kept the momentum going. Instead vaccination rates are stalling until they announce targets and concrete details around vaccine certificates(won't even be available for use until the end of November).

More vague bullshit. Auckland won't even get to level 2 with 90% full vaccination?
I thought they said Auckland will go to Red which looks pretty much like level 2?
Edit: If you're vaccinated

Yeah think red was akin to level 2.5? Was the immediate starting point if ever hit 90%

Any details of the vaccine certificate system? Will it be integrated with the tracking app or another app?
No new details as far as I can tell. Won't be ready until the end of November (probably why they're reviewing stuff on the 29th of November). In the initial announcement of it they said it couldn't be integrated into the scanning app due to that using the google/apple bluetooth tracking.
