Ordered a couple of six packs from Colab Brewing (pilsner, garden ale).
Same day delivery in the Warkworth area. Nice!

Garage Project took about a week but given it was lots of free beer after I complained about a flat one I can’t really whinge too much.

I bet we all have a photo like that.
How good does that beer look too? That is a VB, or a Carlton Draught, or a Lion Red or a DB. Heck, maybe it's a fucking Rheineck.
Either way, it's cold, sub-4.5% alcohol, and that bloke is about to enjoy 15 of them.
Lion Brown or Bavarian Bitter at ours (not anymore, thank god).
I have the strongest memory of this label from watching my grandad always having one in his hand.

always remember dad enjoyed a Rheineck...or even the odd Joseph Coutts, normally in a swapa crate

Thanks! I always remember it as JK so was weird writing Coutts. Thought I had it wrong the whole time.

The family that basically established 'factory' brewing in NZ. They did change their name to Coutts in the third NZ generation and although the original Waitemata Brewery was designed and established by JK (the son of JK) it became DB under his son Morton Coutts.
Back to swapacrates though. The old Waitemata Sparkling Ale was a popular drop back in the day. A similar style to Coopers from Oz

When I was three, I was allowed a sip of the froth off Dad's DB draught. I didn't like it but I felt special as I was allowed it so would always ask.

Man I miss crates. From swapping them in Welly, to buying them over the bar at Gardies in Dunners. Environmentalists before our time
Swapa crate is still very much alive and well in the King Country (and it doesn't just have to be Waikato...)
