Hurricanes 2021

ben strang seems to be named in chiefs squad
Same name, different players. This one is a hooker out of Whanganui Collegiate.
The Chiefs player is a halfback out of St Paul's.
-
Just to add, Strang the hooker was the no.2 for the 2019 NZ Schools team and I remember him being impressive against Aust. He had good size too.
One player from that same team I don't see in the Hurricanes U20s is Roderick Solo. He looked a very good winger, fast and elusive.
-
@canes4life The real question is who’s going to stand out and show flair and get signed by the Highlanders and who’s going to plod along have a “good work rate” and not much else and get signed by the Canes.

Is he still at school? I miss a few Hawke's Bay Academy players that I'm sure would have made squad, but may have been left out because they're still at school, including Cooper Flanders, Bethel Lutele-Malasia and Tupou Ma’afu Afungia (I think he's still at school).
Also missing Jayden Stok, but I've heard there are provinces trying to poach him, so maybe they succeeded.

I wouldn't think so as I doubt he made the NZS team as a year 11. Solo also wasn't part of the 50 players selected last year either. Maybe focusing on sevens, or too old?

Fuck me we're through the bottom of the barrell and working on digging a fucking big hole in the dirt below
-
@canes4life how old is Fritz Rayasi, any idea?
-
@canes4life for anyone interested, Ruben Love and Tyrel Lomax join the Breakdown tonight which is currently on SS1.
-
-
@canes4life ah hah that explains things, cheers.
That traitor!
-
Anyone wanting to know what Ruben Love’s all about - check out the replay of the Breakdown here:
Watch from around the 26 min mark, he comes across as a very focused young kid. Hope he spends time at 10 considering we have Jordie obviously locked in at 15 unless he moves franchise or positions.
-
@canes4life Some nice club rooms there in the background 😉

@machpants It’s ok just means we’re getting closer to McClutchie getting signed due to lack of other 10s around.
That is about as likely as the Hurricanes beating the Crusaders. If it was going to happen it should have happened before the signing of Simon Hickey, Orbyn Ledger and that other guy that was the Counties reserve first five/halfback.
-
@mikey07 That's the bizzare thing about it. Ledger plays second five for Counties and is still being rated ahead of a reasonably decent first five, that kind if equates to Shane Howarth's welshness being enough to get him selected ahead of more suitably qualified Welshmen.
