57th ISPS Handa Halberg Awards Nominations Announced
The Halberg Foundation has announced 70 nominations have been received for six categories at the 57th ISPS Handa Halberg Awards – New Zealand’s pre-eminent event to celebrate and honour sporting achievements from 2019.
Twenty-eight sporting codes are represented in the nominations, submitted by National Sporting Organisations and an independent Nominations Board, recognising achievements from 1 December 2018 to 30 November 2019.
The ISPS Handa Halberg Awards judges will now review the nominations to shortlist into finalists who will be announced in January 2020. The 57th ISPS Handa Halberg Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 13 February 2020 at Spark Arena in Auckland and televised free to air on Prime TV and the broadcast will include closed captioning.

Sportswoman of the Year- Courtney Duncan (Motorcycling) - won the 2019 Women's Motocross World Championship (WMX)
- Laura Langman (Netball) - captained the Silver Ferns to the 2019 Netball World Cup title in Liverpool
- Lisa Carrington (Canoe racing) - claimed two world titles in 2019 the K1 200 and K1 500
- Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (Snowboarding) - produced New Zealand’s first Snowboarding World Championships gold medal in 2019

Sportsman of the Year- Israel Adesanya (Mixed martial arts) - was the 2019 UFC Middleweight Champion title winner
- Kane Williamson (Cricket) - led the Black Caps to the ICC Cricket World Cup final
- Scott McLaughlin (Motorsport) - claimed a maiden Bathurst 1000 title at Mount Panorama in 2019
- Tom Walsh (Athletics) - is a finalist for the ISPS Handa Sportsman of the Year after placing first overall in shot put at the 2019 IAAF Diamond League

It's good to see that the ABs weren't rolled out just because. TJ's try was fooking amazing but that's about it from last year. I could see Razor in as coach of the year, the threepeat pretty special, maybe even team. They'll be well on when they probably do it again this year
