Ngaruawahia P dealer eviction

What interested me in terms of 'their stance against P' was that they went to the dairy's and made them stop selling those plastic P bags.
I find it all quite interesting. It appears the townsfolk are quite happy with the situation as it was getting out of hand there.

The Huks are anti-P and their stance stems from Jamie Pink's 13-yr old daughter being offered the drug back in 2007. He's a colourful character by all accounts and has been on the wrong side of the law in the past, but seems to have done more good than harm in the community.
I saw them out in force earlier this year when I went to the funeral of the local policeman at TÅ«rangawaewae. We had hundreds of police and local gang members all at the same event.

I thought it was pretty heaviliy flagged their money came from weed?
Would explain all the sandwiches too...
I'm OK with that, I like weed, I think its insane its not legalised & taxed & if these guys deal it & kneecap anyone dealing Meth that feels like a win. Plus its Ngaruawahia, its not like extensive weed usage will impact on the local productivity or stop it becoming a boom town.
Of course it takes a very focused gang to stick to just one product...

I know of a particular property just on the outskirts of town that has plenty of shady visitors in a regular stream. The assumption is a drugs house but I also assumed P. Seems that isn't the case and I hadn't heard of any gang ownership either.
If you look around the roadside ditches nearby there are always plenty of empty prescription drug packets though.
The nearby locals also assume the cops know all about the place but are keeping a close eye on these kahawhai looking to catch the kingfish. -

If they have such great intel on who and where the P dealers are why would they not work with Police to have them arrested? The argument "oh the cops haven't done anything about it" is crap because getting to the heart of these operations takes a huge amount of effort and investment. If this gang already knows everything and wants something down about it then why not give the info to the Police and make their jobs 1000% easier.
.That's exactly it. The general public reaction to this (by general public, I mean the cross section of society who care enough to comment on the herald and stuff facebook pages, so not really accurate), is "why aren't the Police doing this instead of the gangs? They're also the same people who will (rightly) complain that the Police are overstepping their mark whenever a court case is thrown out because a warrant is ruled illegal or a search unlawful.
I worked in high end drug enforcement for just over 4 years and it's without a doubt the most difficult, frustrating but rewarding form of policing I ever worked in. It's not as simple as seeing some scrote driving around in a 200k Benz and deciding they're a meth dealer. I was lucky enough that our squad was really well resourced, so when we chose a target, we normally always got there in the end, but for an average frontline cop or Detective in a small provincial centre, they'll be running on a bare-bones budget, have limited drug investigation skills and even less resources. Coupled with the workload of being one of only a couple of Detectives in a small town, the desire for proactive drug enforcement is pretty low. Add into it that drug enforcement doesn't generate "statistics" (such as burglary resolution rates etc), and you'll find that it's almost frowned upon from above.
Hence, it's not even as simple as the cops just deciding they're gonna investigate the guys either, even with someone saying "Joe Bloggs is a drug dealer", it still wouldn't be enough to get you a search warrant, or over the line in court.
I'm fairly neutral on the Tribal Huks (aside from the stupid name). Gang members come in all shapes and sizes, and while they're certainly no angels, but they're probably not the Headhunters or Mongrel mob either, in terms of criminality. It's not unusual for gang members give back to the community by coaching sports, helping the elderly etc, so being part of a gang doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna be an evil monster. There are plenty of absolute scumbags who don't wear patches as well.
Pink seems like any number of gang members I've come across in the past with a massive ego, loves the spotlight and likes to talk about what a good guy they are. Personally, if they want to go and bash the shit out of some meth dealers, I'm fairly neutral on that, too. But they can't complain if they wind up being locked up for it. Its a slippery slope when you allow a gang to be judge, jury and executioner, without any due process. If it makes the community feel a little bit safer, so be it. But I would bet the house on the fact that meth addicts in Ngaruawahia are still easily able to get their fix from somewhere close by. You can't save people from themselves, so you'd have to ask if it's actually making Ngaruawahia any safer.

@aucklandwarlord it's been a while since we had aucklandwarlord's story of the week by the way (your considered and reasoned post below does not count)

*"When Jamie Pink rolled into the Waikato Times car park, the first thing he did was point to the bullet holes in the driver's door of his black V8 Ford Explorer.
He was shot at during the P raids, he says. He doesn't elaborate - he won't. He's lived to fight another day.
A gun expert reckons the bullet holes were caused by two gunshot blasts plus two more from a second, high-powered firearm.
He was visiting the Waikato Times to drop off a gift - a sledgehammer: "Give this to Flo," he said to the receptionist."Tell her we've closed the last P house down."
The hammer had 14 notches on it to represent the 14 houses.
"I brought the sledgehammer to you to let you know that it's over. Now we are back to our main job of feeding the kids."*
I wouldn't put it past this guy that he put the gun blasts in the door himself to make a better yarn. The more I read about him, the more of an ego he seems to have. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.I think the Tribal Huks would become very quickly extinct if they fall foul of a gang like the Headhunters or the Hells Angels in this publicity campaign. I wouldn't be surprised to see his, or his members houses firebombed etc

On the "Stuff are shit" front. Thats typically fucking retarded.
What they meant to write is, probably, "2 shotgun blasts & 2 shots from a rifle" but instead they just wrote that drivel. By definition all 4 are gunshot blasts. Christ their journalists are fucking awful.

Haha totally. I'm not a firearms expert and even I could have told you that it this is from a shotgun and a rifle.
I still reckon he did it himself. Two bullet holes that close together, and buckshot spray limited to that much, they must have shot from pretty close, and still missed him...
-
@aucklandwarlord LOL - that was my first thought. Huge holes in the door and he managed to escape injury? Very fortunate!
I did snicker at Pink's comment 'its all over now'. Shutting down some P houses doesn't end the problem, not by a long shot. Actually, it could make it worse. If the P epidemic in Ngaruawahia is as bad as Pink claimed from his kiddie survey, it is ingrained and long term. Yes, there are stupid dealers. But there are dealers cunning as fuck too, who will simply lie low for a bit, then carry on as usual. Addicts don't stop because the closest supply of their addiction gets taken away. They find another. The other troubling thing is if all the P addicts are forced to go cold turkey...holy shit. That is a messy as hell process at the best of times, both physically and mentally, but a huge number in one town? With very limited resources in terms of policing, mental health, extra family support and addiction specialists?
That is actually a recipe for a complete fucking disaster.
-
@Mokey Absolutely. It's not necessarily the meth dealers who cause the town the damage, it's the meth addicts doing the crime to fund their habits. Obviously getting rid of them doesn't stop them driving down the road to Huntly, where I'm sure there are plenty more. Short sighted show boating at its best.
No doubt he'll be up for NZ Herald New Zealander of the year next year...

That time I called something and I was actually (probably) right...

"The man at the centre of an apparent gang war on methamphetamine in Ngaruawahia has been arrested.
Jamie Pink, leader of the Tribal Huk gang, is understood to have been arrested today after police took his car earlier this week.
It follows claims by Pink he had been shot at and "lost and eyeball" in the so-called war to rid the tiny Waikato town of the drug P.
"Following the forensic examination of a vehicle in relation to recent activities in Ngaruawahia, a 45-year-old man has been arrested on charges of unlawful possession of firearms," a police spokesman said.
Pink drove his car, a black SUV, to another media outlet in Hamilton on Monday and later said "two little old ladies" blew his eye out with a tommy gun.
He had said the two old women shot at him as he sped away on Te Rapa Rd while travelling toward Ngaruawahia.
Pink, who was sporting and eye-patch earlier this week, has been vocal in his claims to have cleared Ngaruawahia of 14 meth houses and told Fairfax his injuries were a backlash to running P dealers out of town.
However there was no record of Pink being hospitalised at Waikato Hospital for an eye injury and a police spokesman today said no complaint had been laid with them in relation to the alleged shooting of the vehicle they had examined."

Look, full credit to the guy for his school lunch thing, but this whole P lab shutdown story is just ridiculous and getting more so each time it appears. The shot up car was dodgy enough, but losing an eyeball to two little old ladies with a tommy gun? Bitch please.
