Black Caps vs England Series

That feels like an Umpire making a "brave" call based on having DRS as insurance.
As soon as the finger went up it was out
One problem with DRS. -
Here’s my prediction, we get a few more runs but England will need less than 60 to win.
We snag a few wickets in Englands chase by taking all our catches but England win by 7 wickets 😀

One problem with DRS.Looked highish but as soon as the umpire gave it, there was never going to be a question.

India looking more like a blip....
Or England’s game is just better than ours in the conditions that they love to play in.

Fuck I would have all those BC players catching 100 balls with out a drop all week you drop one,and you start again until you reach a set target without a drop.
It’s not the first time we have fielded like this. I’m sure they practice catching at least once a day? -

Repetition creates results it is the only way to create good habits and enhances concentration, I don’t think they practice enough, if you drop 8 catches a lot of those regulation sitters in an innings.

India also felt like a series where growing issues like Conway & Blundell were able to be papered over by the seamers, then Santner, then Ajaz.
We got away with Blundell dropping (Pant?) with an absolute sitter v India. Here the fielding just got dealt to in reply.

The Indian comms made this point as well which I didn't disagree with - DRS favours the bowlers despite the odd howler being overturned that saves a batsmen, as umpires are much bolder giving appeals out with the knowledge they have DRS behind them. I remember Bowden didn't give anything out to avoid making a howler, and I think a lot of the "umpires calls" today wouldn't have been given in the past.
I'm not complaining about it, and TBH I don't mind it as if the game favours batsmen too much we just get boring draws, but it would be interesting if someone good at stats could prove / disprove that theory. I wonder if LBWs given out has increased as a percentage of wickets overall?

Yeah, Conway despite scoring some runs never looked comfortable over there. Lack of footwork, particularly outside off, has made him a bit of a walking wicket. I think it's a symptom of a lack of overall confidence, I agree with @Chris he needs to spend some time in the domestic scene again to iron out those technique issues and grow his confidence again. Do I remember correctly that he had some stuff going on outside of cricket that affected him mentally?

I actually think we've played well though outside of the fielding. We put on 350 after being sent in, and then created enough chances to bowl them out (probably twice!) for quite a bit less than what we made. If we took even half our regulation chances we'd be starting our 2nd innings with a big lead and it's a different ball game all together.
I'm gonna broken record this but they should be in the field 8 hours a day practicing their catching to 1) punish them and 2) actually improve their bloody catching!

I agree with Smith & Coney's comments on Sport Nation radio coverage. They needed to pick the best players right now for these test matches and Will Young needed to be in the side and that Blundell needs time away from the international area and go back to domestic cricket. Smith also said he finds it ridiculous that they picked a squad for the full series rather than just for each match given that we are playing at home.

@Chris you’ve coached a lot by the looks. Don’t you hit a ball at players at the start of every practice? Getting everyone involved?
Yeah of course plus individual work if needed.
Competition catching to add some variety. -

Amateurism in a basic aspect of the game has removed an opportunity to place themselves in a winning position, instead they've used up six wickets just to get level.
