The playing too wide off the ruck and getting always hit behind the advantage line has already been covered in detail here, but it just seems to me the forwards weren't fully recovered from the previous week and weren't recovered mentally and physically for the onslaught. With the benefit of hindsight, the game was won by halftime against Ireland, perhaps even earlier subs in that game would of kept a bit of energy in the tank for the next bigger challenge. Some of our forwards aren't young bucks and gave a flat performance.

    Eddie had us sussed.

    @taniwharugby firstly, eat a dick

secondly, i read the OP, it doesn't explain shit. Aren't the stated goals covered by sevens? which is barely rugby anyway?

The sad thing to contemplate is that the way money is influencing things a combination of NH getting its player base together and the increasing player drain is making staying near the top an incredible challenge.

It's ironic though, the drain is supposedly much worse now but the second gut punch in 2007 was realizing that McAlister, Hayman, Mauger, Howlett, Jack, Masoe, Kelleher etc had all played their last test (at least for a while); and over the next few months Collins and Evans firmed up as leaving too.

This time only Read from the starting side is off and it would be hard to argue Smith or SBW left too many test in the tank either.

One thing which really upset me about 2007 was that we were by far away the best team there.

In 91 and 99 Oz were tops. In 2003 England was no 1, just. Being at Ellis Park in 95 and seeing what it meant for the nation was the ONLY time I've ever watched the ABs and thought, 'It wouldn't be so bad if we lost this', and after all it was a draw by normal standards.

Saturday for me felt as though we played the final a week early. That said, no guarantee Poms will get up this week.

@Jailbreak7 it was dumb, borne out of frustration (plus milked for all it was worth) but one our greatest captains was yellow carded for something dumber, so I can cur him some slack on that one.

I'll go against the grain here. I like the two of them and the excitement of wondering which one will be whipped out.

are we still talking war dances?

@Steven-Harris @Rapido Yeah - just reading you guys thoughts on this now, but I've written similar on another thread.

I think the should have taken Big Karl instead of Atu Moli and focused Ofa on the tighthead side.

Would have been handy on Saturday! Bringing on the two Tui's adds a LOT of oomph!

Wales have 143 points in total in this RWC...All Blacks have 210...All Blacks get third place....now both teams can go home to get over not winning the 2019 RWC 🙂

Best I could find to date. Hit full screen.

Would love to see the reverse angle on that.

    Intent is there. Connection?

    Definitely on the arm.

    With his left hand yes.

would like to see what he's connecting with with his right hand uppercuts.

Nah. Unless there is another angle showing something else, you can let this one go Mike. From that angle it looks like a guy trying to free himself up from being illegally held back.

I assume the refs will be named tomorrow. Any predictions?

I'm going Garces for the final and Barnes for the other game.

Watson is the only ref who has officiated in 2 finals so Owens could get a parting gift.

Garces should be nowhere near the Final.

Are the Welsh bitter at Garces?

    Genuine question.

    I am.

Missed so much obvious stuff - offside, ruck, forward passes - and not so obvious stuff - foul play.

It's another opportunity to fill a stadium is the only reason I can think of.

My guess is it’s mainly to sell to the high price tour groups from The SF or QF on.

Two years out from the tournament the idea of “well as long as they make the SF we will see them twice” makes sense.

I’ve read various versions of this. The coach of that team (Mcphail?) was quoted as saying “Kevin reckoned he never hit anyone but his hands were so swollen the next day he could hardly hold a beer”.

He may have done the physical damage unseen.

Meads tells of St Wilson of Whineray (also a champion heavyweight boxer) sorting out opposition forwards and emerging from the scrum or ruck with a halo round his head while said opposition forward emerging seriously groggy

Foster's backline looked great against Ireland. Be interesting to see how they go in the next two games. No problem with Hansen sharing praise with his deputy when he does a good job. Foster will be a serious applicant to the AB's Chief role.

Joseph and Robertson have had much more success as Head Coach so are the favourites to succeed Hansen IMHO.

Most of the incidents were already reviewed. This idea sounds ace. Double thumbs up.
