Hamilton just can’t beat us when it counts. I hope Hamilton plays us in the Quarterfinals.

Yeah I thought Hamilton were poor due to the Crusaders pressure and defence or they just are not the team they were last year.
    Hamilton just got outplayed.

I think the early try New Plymouth got meant they mentally switched off a bit, and by the time they refocused they'd let the game slip through their fingers and they couldn't run Blenheim down.

In the ënd Hamilton and New Plymouth lost and Chch united won

I think my post highlighted the fact that Ashburton won and Cambridge lost, didn't need the obvious stated. 😉

Hard pressed to believe Ashtray could win anything to be honest.

To be fair they did win the Heartland championship in 2013 and 2014.

Tahs lost the penalty count 18-4. Discipline might be a good place to start

    So... Basically the last... forever.

Considering the conditions there was some very skillful and entertaining rugby on show today.

But I've seen horses in the Camargue play in less water.

Vikena made 20 tackles in 62 mins. top was Choat with 21 in 80 mins.

    I think Vikena played 80

He was about to go off then Perofeta went off. Vikena played in the loosies, Sotutu to 12 & Plummer to 10

Awesome game, and great commentary too. Clark sounds like he's enjoying the game no matter who scores.

Greg Clark is a superb operator.

Except when he doesn't know that golden point exists!

Wishful thinking, positive attitude. It's a good thing

Not impressed with my Blues, we should of killed thr Crusaders with all the possession we had.

    Blues forwards were impressive

Blues backs are where the issue lies

Christie is a poor 9 whose spot should be under pressure - Perofeta played better than vs Tahs but still blew a number of good opportunities - they pick a midfield that isn't built to ball play but just big and run straight (whoever they pick it's the same M.O.) Forbes actually offered a bit of difference

@frugby i saw it as he arrived at the same time as someone else who just happened to be further back so he was put offside by his own player, i think if he was the only one there it would have been fine, so yellow if we'd had penalties/warning in the lead up but if neither a penalty and a warning maybe

I think though, the referee is saying that he has illegally slowed the ball down after a line break. Considering location on the field, by rule that is a fair yellow card.

The better question, as you say is whether he actually came in from the side. As I say, probably just. Sort of came in on the 45 and crept around, which sometimes you'll get away with, but generally not after a fast break, as the referee's always seem to decide that you were never onside, even if the ruck moves after you are already on the ball.

Random thoughts with 7 to go ...

Canes eased off in 2nd half. Should have hit 80.

Tupou is ok huh. Shame he elected for Aus. Would have been a superstar if he stayed on the good side of the Tassie.

    Godfry has a future

TJP might still have a future

O'reilly goes ok. Was he the dude with behaviour issues?

Canes locks too small to have much of a future

Lomax gunna be AB cornerstone next few years. Tupou good, Lomax better.

    All for now.

Well I am stunned that anyone is talking up Tupou, he spent most of time on field, either walking in midfield, or on odd time he gpt to ruck he never drives in from back. he looked unfit, and uninterested for about 30 of the 40 minnutes he was on field.

As I say, he'd have veen a superstar if he'd stayed in the NZ system and made to work. Guy can scrum and run. I'd be picking him.

Brumbies have genuine speed across a number of positions and Bernie’s gameplan has looked pretty solid to start the season. Actually looking forward to the Aussie derby between them and the Reds next week.

Certainly in the past, I think that has been the weakness of his game compared to say Cane?

I seriously think you've been watching someone else and confusing them for Harmon. The only noticeable thing about Harmon when he first hit the scene was his support play and running.

Have too agree, hard running was often the first thing i listed under his name

@KiwiMurph yeah I find it baffling and a bit poor from the Blues doctor/s if he's deemed fit to play. We've just had an article come out about Billy Guyton and the damage his brain took playing rugby so it doesn't set a good precedent if Reiko gets knocked out cold, clearly out of it leaving the field and then is all of a sudden perfectly fine. There's surely underlining damage there that would suggest he should take a week off.

I'm no expert however so if he's cleared then so be it, I just don't think it's a good look.

IIRC the situation in club rugby is a mandatory stand down, even if cleared by a doctor. I don't see why that wouldn't apply for professionals.

Twelve days before training or playing.

I get that the professionals have a higher degree of scrutiny but caution should be taken IMHO
