Been having serious problems with the body - chronic fatigue, insomnia, gut/intestine issues, slow healing, super low blood pressure (95/65) shingles blah blah blah, so went and saw a specialist who did tests, and yep lots to do. Have to try and rebuild immune system, but that is the easy part. I have to now go dairy, wheat and gluten free. sobs

Normally when people have an intolerance, rather than an allergy, you are advised to cut food groups for a period of time and then gradually reintroduce them to see what happens. What are you by the way, FODMAP?

My better half has similar sounding symtoms. She has been wheat free for nearly 20 years and has had to swear off a few other food groups due to IBS. Try using almond milk instead of dairy. Rice Flour instead of Wheat Flour. I can bake quite well with that type of substitution. Can make pancakes, muffins, cakes etc. Its easier to make it yourself than think you are going to buy it.

I wish this rain would fuck off. Desperate for a walk, being stuck inside with hamper food is not ideal.

Four weeks since the little op. Very happy with the recovery. Did a short session on both the stationary cycle and reformer this week……All OK.

Had to reduce the range and resistance on the reformer a bit but I think I will get back to previous range quickly.
Very little pain…….groin just stiff with a blob of scar tissue….will soften and mould away over time.
Was surprised to see how much weight I gained over the last couple of weeks…..88kg now.
Need to keep it closer to 80………will have to cut back a bit on the droë wors and cheese!
Cold weather flab maybe……

The next challenge is to completely stop using the lift........realistically about a three month target I think.

Even if I change to using the staircase as my main exercise and cut back on the other stuff....the real world advantage will be worth it.

So there....that is the challenge.

Well, I'd say that is strategy, not defence.

Defence is stopping or repelling an attack e.g. tackling someone, blocking their shot. You just can't do that in crossfit unless you have the power to prevent them climbing the rope, squatting the weight, doing the pushup.

If you're beating them mentally by starting that little bit earlier, it isn't your defence that is beating them, its your attack.

EDIT: In essence, for CrossFit, you could easily say there is only attack. You versus the clock. The clock doesn't give a fuck what you do. It just keeps time. It isn't your opponent; you are.

EDIT 2: And the guys there aren't competing against you are actually competing alongside you in order to beat the clock i.e. themselves. Because if they don't pull out a good time, they risk losing. Maybe on the day it doesn't have to be a PB, but maybe it does.

Elbows in closer mean you are going to put a whole lot more emphasis on your triceps.

It's just a different way of doing them that is all.

You can do either or better still both.

It's been a while since I've updated. I'm not eating anally anymore, still have my normal meals etc but am eating a wee bit more junk on weekend etc (and I've developed a slight addiction to Freddo biscuits after my nephews opened my world to them). At any rate I'm still losing weight I was down to 86kg when I weighed last week so I'm still happy.

Yeah I quite often go up and down the firemans pole at the park a few times if there's no rope. Great for UBS.

All in all I've got no doubt you're right about Crossfit Kirwan, for something to produce decent all round athletes I can't think of anything better. Sure you won't get as strong as a powerlifter or your cardio won't be as good as a mountain runner but as an all rounder you'll be in great shape.
